I got a job. I begin work as an ESOL teaching assistant for a nearby high school on Tuesday, which is quite exciting. I’m excited about the work, but it pays nothing… but it does pay more than subbing for another year. It’s not teaching English, but it’s the fastest way to get there. I just started looking for work not long ago, too, and since then I’ve talked to a million people I know who currently work as teachers and teaching assistants who said that their applications sat for up to FIVE YEARS before they found work. So I’m amazingly lucky. And excited. This means benefits, which is huge.
Meanwhile, I’m trying to focus on this and not so much on Bobby or John or anyone else, for that matter. I’m trying to relax about that. I’m trying to take care of myself first, and just hang out and see what happens. And best of all, I have only about 150 pages left of Anna Karenina!
