I am certainly glad to get back to this, but I have little literary to talk about. I’ve had a busy couple of days, and very little of this business involved reading. I just proud of myself for being social right now, though.
A good friend called Tuesday evening after I had settled in, in my PJs with my cross-stitching, and I wound up going to her favorite bar with her and spending the night at her in-laws’ house. That morning, I was woken up by a phone call for a job interview for a teaching position in the foreign language department. I ran home to prepare. Unfortunately, it seems that the people who had contacted me hadn’t bothered to read my cover letter or any of my information, so I practically arrived at the school and walked right out again.
Last night I had a blind date of sorts. It went very well, it was definitely very good for me, and the guy I went out with was just fantastic. We met for dinner and stayed at the restaurant for an hour and a half, then got ice cream, ate it on the bench outside, and stayed there talking for two and a half hours. He was very nice. I want no part of any sort of romantic involvement (with anyone – if I did, he’d be perfect, I’m sure), but he was fantastic to spend time with. We were going to go out again on Monday, but I remembered I have another appointment with my doctor Monday – oops.
This morning I woke up to a phone call for another interview, but this one was for an ESOL teaching assistant. Better than nothing. This one went much better, thank God. They actually really want me, it’s just a matter of whether or not they get the numbers to be ABLE to hire an assistant. It’s looking good, though.
The only reading I’ve done the last couple of days was sitting in front of the restaurant waiting for my date-of-sorts to show up. That was about one page. But as long as I’m feeling better, I’m not too worried about it.
Until I have more book-related rantings to post, here’s a picture of the only thing I do at the beach: look pissed-off and pale, and read. Not the most flattering picture, but I think it’s hilarious.
