The wisdom teeth came out on Friday. Yuck. The thought of it still makes me ill, but I don’t remember a thing. We were still waiting for the doctor in the waiting room at 9:35, and I woke up in a third room at 10:00. I slept through most of the weekend, what with all the medication I’ve been on, and I had to miss Ozzfest, which I was not thrilled about, but I did manage to stomach the rest of Justine and read Joyce Carol Oates’s Beasts.
Good things about Jennifer Egan’s The Keep, which I keep seeing in bookstores and remember hearing something about it, but never remembering if I’ve heard good things or bad things. I guess I know now.
Another Top 100 list! I don’t care what anyone says, I never get bored with these, and I’m happy as long as they included Les Liaisons Dangereuses. (Through Bookslut.)
Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner has been voted reading group book of the year. That’s relatively exciting, yes?
The Morning News’s Books of the Week, including George Pelecanos’s The Night Gardener.
I’m off my painkillers as of this morning and I think it’s only a matter of time before my head explodes leaving little chunks of flesh all over the keyboard and monitor, so I think I’m done for now. More later!

Hope you feel better (having teeth pulled, even in this day and age of good drugs is not for
the weak of heart). Loved the top 100 list, except am I the only person in the whole world
who didn’t think Cold Comfort Farm was as funny as everyone else says it is? (Or maybe I
just have no sense of humor). Glad to see my book group is where it should be, having chosen
The Kite Runner for its next read.
